At one time, a hooded sweatshirt (hoodie, hoody, zip or pullover hooded fleece jacket) was just a hooded sweatshirt. They were long sleeved, unisex and colors were limited to heather gray, black, navy, or white.

Today, there are short sleeve, cap sleeve and sleeveless hoodies. Men’s hoodies are now available in what were once considered women’s colors, and women’s hoodies are no longer smaller versions of men’s, with silhouettes made specifically for a woman’s figure.

Although the most popular fabric for a hoody or sweatshirt is cotton fleece, many brands offer them in knitted silk, merino wool, high-performance or other fabrics in a wide variety of weights.

There are many promotional products and decorated apparel companies that offer custom hoodies and personalized sweatshirts or allow you to design your own hoodie online.
